Yellow Cake with Fudge Frosting

These are not my recipes. They are from the marvellous, trustworthy Deb of Smitten Kitchen.

The cake is her Best Birthday Cake, and the icing is the Instant Fudge Frosting.

My notes …

The full recipe makes two 9″ round, 2″ tall cake layers and the full frosting recipe yields 5 C, which is enough for a crumb coat and a generous, proper coverage of the cake.

Halving the recipes gives me just the right amount of batter and frosting for two 6″-round, 2 1/2″ tall layers.
